Working Together

Anxiety is something most people experience in stressful situations and when they have problems in their lives, which is a perfectly normal response. What isn't normal is for anxiety to persist and worsen to the point that it interferes with your ability to work and function.

Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) is a condition that starts in early childhood and often continues into adulthood. It's a developmental problem that affects your ability to focus and can make you behave carelessly.

While many children are fidgety and don't always pay attention, those with ADHD have such severe symptoms that they struggle to behave in ways other people find acceptable and find school a considerable challenge.

Virtual Reality Psychiatry

Virtual reality psychiatry offers a way for you to speak with Dr. Jacobs about mental health struggles from the comfort of your home, car, or office. It provides a more focused experience than traditional telehealth visits. During virtual reality psychiatry sessions, you receive treatment in a three-dimensional world where you feel like you're right in the office with Dr. Jacobs.

Major depressive disorder, commonly called depression, is a mood disorder that causes severe symptoms that affect how you think, feel, and function in day-to-day life.

Symptoms of depression often disrupt your normal routine, including going to work or school and maintaining personal relationships.

Telepsychiatry is a convenient way of accessing psychiatric treatment without having to visit the practice in person. Dr. Jacobs uses videoconferencing technology that works in the same way as apps you may use already, like Skype and Zoom.

Telepsychiatry provides a one-to-one link between you and Dr. Jacobs, which means conducting your consultation remotely on your laptop or tablet is just like a face-to-face meeting.

Medical Management

Medication management at Jacobi Care is a comprehensive and multidisciplinary program that ensures you get the medication you need to manage your mental wellness.

Dr. Jacobs is a trained psychiatrist who can initiate and adjust your medication to help manage symptoms. He also provides ongoing medication management to ensure effectiveness and compliance.

Once you're on a medication regimen that works, Dr. Jacobs offers medication refills through telehealth as long as you continue to attend your regularly scheduled follow-up appointments.

Dr. Jacobs also works closely with your primary care provider, family, school, and other systems that help you manage your mental wellness to ensure open communication and continuity of care.

Post Concussion Syndrome

Post concussion syndrome is a disorder in which the symptoms of concussion persist even when you should have recovered from the initial injury.

A concussion is a mild kind of traumatic brain injury (TBI). It's typically due to hitting your head or having your head shaken with some force. Symptoms of concussion can develop soon after the injury or as many as 10 days later.

These symptoms normally go away within three months, but when you have post concussion syndrome, they can continue for a year or even longer. This condition can affect you regardless of the severity of your head injury.

Bipolar Disorder

When you have bipolar disorder, you experience changes in mood from manic (excitable) and hypomanic (mildly excitable) to

depressive (low mood).

The transitions can happen with little or no warning, so you might be in a manic state where you feel on top of the world and buzzing with energy then plunge into a depression so profound you can't get out of bed.

These switches between moods are exhausting and cause severe disruption to your home life, relationships, and ability to work or study.
